Work on this book began in late 1982. Originally it was going to list the games alphabetically (hence the title) but evolved to a book that has the games arranged by subject matter. The book eventually encompassed over 400 type-written pages and I stopped working on it in 1984 when the Atari 2600 seemed to be extinct. When the system was re-released in 1986 no effort was made to revive the book. Instead it was reborn as a history book: Phoenix: The Fall & Rise of Home Videogames

After a 1994 letter in the 2600 Connection mentioned the book, scores of letters were sent to me asking for me to release it. Since I wouldn't be able to sell enough quantities to justify self-publication, I knew that photocopying it was my only alternative, Unfortunately the cost of photocopying 400 pages was prohibitive. Finally it occurred to me to reduce the font as much as possible without causing eyestrain and releasing it as a booklet.
